Fraunhofer IWU, Dresden - new construction

Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology
The designed structure closes the premises towards the street and integrates the terrain with its slope rising to the south.
The forecourt faces the street. A short stair leads to the access courtyard, which is situated 1.50 m above, and continues to the southern area resembling a park.
This creates an interesting sequence of both public and private spaces. The building consists of three units.
The office building is an angular structure alongside the Nöthnitzer Straße and borders the courtyard along two sides. A rectangular laboratory building with workshop forms the border to the west. The courtyard is also used for different events.
Parking spaces and technical zones are situated on the ground floor under the courtyard.
